Also known as "Devil's triangle", the Bermuda triangle is one thing that has got people talking.
Despite the fact that different books and numerous articles have been written on it,its mystery remains pretty unsolved.
Let's take a look at one or two things about this mystery...
Location
The Bermuda triangle is a region of the Northern Atlantic ocean bounded by Bermuda, Cuba, Hispaniola, Jamaica and Puerto Rico.
Though its exact boundaries are not universally agreed upon,it ranges between 1 300 000 and 3 900 000 sqkm and has a roughly triangular shape.
Facts
•Despite its notoriety, the Bermuda triangle is one of the regularly sailed shipping route and aircrafts also travel the air routes above it frequently.
•The incidents reported are no larger than those of other heavily travelled regions.
•No remains of a ship or plane involved in the incidents has been found.
•Pilot Bruce Gernon once claimed to have experienced an electronic fog in the region of the triangle and that the fog was actually a time travel portal. Gernon claimed that he lost 28mins flying through the fog.
*The plane disappeared from the radar and reappeared in Miami.
Mystery solved
In the quest to solve the mystery of the Bermuda triangle, different theories have been given by various people.
Theories of supernatural causes exist but geographical and environmental factors are most likely responsible.
• The Bermuda triangle is one of the few regions where the compass does not show towards the north. This may result in significant navigation errors, leading to disasters.
•Rouge waves, which could reach heights of around 100ft and would be strong enough to completely destroy ships or aircrafts without traces, are also a likely cause.Since the Bermuda triangle is a region where storms from multiple directions can converge,Rouge waves are more likely to occur.
•Periodic methane eruptions can make very large bubbles, making the water less dense and reducing the buoyancy the water provides for the ship to float.
Though this sounds very convincing, some geologists do not believe this has caused ships to sink in the Bermuda triangle.
